Things to do before January 1st

With the 1st of January looming I need to get a move on with setting up my year of focusing on getting the car.  To push getting everything done below is a list of stuff I am committing to getting sorted by the end of this year:

  • Caterham were nice enough to send me a list of parts (though not as comprehensive as I'd imagined) and I need to style up this front page to account for this information.
  • Create a PayPal account for money to be transferred into
  • Find a guest blogger to write about their car

What is it like to drive?

I love this video! Its fascinating watching documentaries like Top Gear and 5th Gear and how they try and convey what its like to be in a car, but I think it really sums up what it must be like to be in a Caterham.

Caterham Parts Breakdown

Contacted Caterham and Darren (Caterham Parts & Heritage Manager) has kindly forwarded me the 'starter kit' listing.  I'll run through it and update my site with some kind of product and price list.

Ok off to go and spend some of my savings on Christmas presents :-(

In bits and pieces

£28 a day...its been on my mind and its an awful lot of money to scrounge together from nothing.  I'm not shying away from the truth that for me to get the car this is what I need to do - I am however going to shift how I think about it with a slightly different tactic

Caterham parts catalogue.

I need to get hold of a parts catalogue and create a list of all the bits on this blog.  I will then 'buy' (by that I mean put the amount in my savings account) each part individually.  Over time I can then see how much of the physical car I already 'own'.  Not only that, for birthdays and things I can have friends buy me nuts and bolts - real parts of the car that they can claim as their gift to me, a gift towards my ultimate prezzie :-)

So, where do I get a Caterham parts catalogue from...

Not so baby steps

£10,000 - that's what I need to buy a Caterham of some description - and having never driven (let alone owned) one of these pocket rockets this is really where I should start.  Year 1 goal is to save ten grand and buy myself a Caterham - not an easy feat as its £28 a day - £28 that I currently don't have!

Where do I start? how can I save such a large amount?  My thinking cap is on, but any suggestions are welcome.  In the mean time, I'm off to find some really nice Caterham's to feature on my blog :-)

Caterham R500 - The Greatest Car in the World

My journey starts here! For a long time I've dreamed about owning a Caterham R500 but never got round to truly committing myself to getting one. This is me writing in words a promise to myself, the last entry I place on this blog will be a picture of my Caterham R500 thanking everyone who has been involved in my journey to owning one - I will get there!!!

So why is the Caterham R500 the greatest car in the world? I'll probably cover many of the reasons in future posts, but in a nutshell its because in every breath of its design - its main focus - is speed and handling!
